Jordan King
Mr. King earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Lawrence University, Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin, and a Masters of Arts in Music Education from The Ohio State University. He teaches private lessons and performs as a freelance violinist. Mr. King loves to travel and has volunteered to teach music in Haiti on numerous occasions. He serves on the executive board of BLUME-Haiti (Building Leaders Using Music Education-Haiti), a 501(c)3 organization that works to support and develop music schools throughout Haiti. Prior to joining the strings staff in Upper Arlington, he taught in the Oshkosh Area School District (Wisconsin). Mr. King teaches strings 6-8 at Hastings Middle School.
Chris Lape
Mr. Lape earned a Master’s degree in viola performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also holds undergraduate degrees in violin performance and music education from The Ohio State University. In addition to teaching in UA, Mr. Lape is the music director of the Newark-Granville Chamber Strings and serves on the faculties of the OSU Morning String Student Workshop and OSU Viola Day. Mr. Lape is the principal violist of the Newark-Granville Symphony and often performs with the Springfield Symphony and Opera Project Columbus. Prior to teaching in Upper Arlington, he taught orchestra in the Dublin City Schools and Newark City Schools. Mr. Lape teaches strings 6-8 at Jones Middle School and is an Assistant Director at the High School.
Gretchen Zunic
Gretchen Zunic is an Orchestra Director at Upper Arlington High School. She is in her twenty-seventh year of teaching in Upper Arlington and previously taught strings in both Hilliard City Schools and Findlay City Schools. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Arts Degree from the Ohio State University, where she received the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award. She currently serves as a Board Member and Newsletter Editor of the Ohio String Teachers Association, Co-Chair of the OSTA Middle School Honors Orchestra, and the Central Ohio String Festival. In addition to being an active OMEA Adjudicator, she serves as Secretary of the Youth Philharmonic of Central Ohio and on the Board of the Vivo Music Festival, of which she is currently President. She is a twice recipient of the Upper Arlington Golden Apple Award and has been honored as a Distinguished Alumni of Princeton City Schools and Bowling Green State University. She is also a member of the Columbus String Quartet.
